SHAVING BRUSH TREE

Bombax ellipticum Album

Sun-Loving Succulent, originating from Southern Mexico

Full Sun to Light Shade / Growth to 8 feet / Hardy to 25 degrees

A hardy tropical with very ornamental features. Leaves are first bright red turning a fine green as they mature. It blooms creamy-white silky flowers in the late winter to early spring. The wood is interesting as well, showing stripping of greens, yellows, browns, and white. Its swollen stem resembles a green rock melon. Its image can be found in Mayan art pieces, and it is related to the famous African Baobab Tree.
